THE CONSULATE IS CURRENTLY OPEN ON TUESDAYS, WEDNESDAYS AND THURSDAYS BETWEEN 10AM AND 2PM.

PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS ONLY FOR FOR PRE-BOOKED APPOINTMENTS FOR SWEDISH CONSULAR SERVICES.

APPLICANTS WILL ONLY BE ADMITTED WITH A VALID BOOKING CONFIRMATION.

Our call hour from 9am - 10am (Tuesday - Friday) and email correspondence will resume as normal.

Thursdays and Fridays are reserved for administrative tasks.

Swedish Passport Collections

ADULT PASSPORT COLLECTIONS:

  • Existing passport, even if expired.
    This will need to be cancelled in advance of handing out the new document.* Valid photo ID.
    The existing passport will not be accepted as proof of ID if it has expired.

CHILD PASSPORT COLLECTIONS:

  • Child’s old passport, even if expired.
    This will need to be cancelled in advance of handing out the new document.
  • The parent making the collection must also bring their valid passport/ID document as proof of identification.

Swedish UT Card / Residence Permit Collections

REQUIRED FOR THE COLLECTION:

  • Valid photo ID (SA ID book/card or passport)

Duration: 15 minutes

Swedish Coordination No Application (child)

Please be advised that both parents and child must be present at the appointment.

DOCUMENTS REQUIRED FOR APPOINTMENT:

  • 3 x recent colour passport photos; size 45mmx35mm (no teeth showing/smiling)
  • Both parents’ original passports. If parents have more than one citizenship, they will need to bring all passports with them
  • Full / unabridged birth certificate with apostille from DIRCO
  • A birth notification from the hospital in the original.
  • The child’s South African passport (if applicable)
  • The parents’ original unabridged marriage certificate (if applicable)

Please ensure that the full / unabridged birth certificate and unabridged marriage certificate has been legalised with an apostille from DIRCO in advance of the appointment.

Swedish Coordination No Application (Adopted child)

Please be advised that both parents and child must be present at the appointment.

DOCUMENTS REQUIRED FOR APPLICANT:

  • Registrar of Adoptions Covering Letter
  • Unabridged, Full or Abridged Birth Certificate with Apostille from DIRCO
  • Order of Inter-Country Adoption document with Apostille from DIRCO
  • Confirmation of Adoption from the Magistrate’s Court with Apostille from DIRCO
  • Certificate of Conformity of Intercountry Adoption with Apostille from DIRCO
  • Valid flight details for return journey (child & parents)
  • 3 x recent colour photos; size 45mmx35mm (no teeth showing/smiling)
  • Both parents’ original passports

Please ensure that all the relevant documents are in order complete with an apostille from DIRCO in advance of the appointment.

Appointments for emergency passports are to be scheduled for Tuesdays or Wednesdays once the coordination number has been issued.

Swedish Child Emergency Passport

Please note that both parents and child must be present at the appointment.

There is a 1 week handling time for these applications.

Morning appointments should be booked for emergency passport applications.

Afternoon appointments should be scheduled for these collections.

DOCUMENTS REQUIRED FOR APPOINTMENT:

  • 3 x recent colour passport photos; size 45mmx35mm (no teeth showing/smiling)
  • Both parents’ passports
  • Unabridged birth certificate with Apostille from DIRCO/personbevis
  • Valid [airline] ticket for your onward journey.
  • Valid photo-id (if available).
  • A police report if your passport has been lost or stolen.
  • A fee of ZAR3,490 for a temporary passport issued by the Embassy must be paid in cash at the appointment.

The fee includes the following:

  • ZAR 2,860 - temporary passport
  • ZAR 320 - additional handling fee
  • ZAR 310 - DHL courier fee

Please be advised that the Consulate/Embassy can not be held responsible for any issues that applicants may have when travelling with emergency passports.

It is the parents’ responsibility to confirm that their chosen airline and any transit airports accept emergency passports as well as the minimum validity required for travel.

This should be done in advance of the application.

Swedish Emergency Passport Collections

ADULT EMERGENCY PASSPORT COLLECTIONS:

  • Valid official photo ID if available.

CHILD EMERGENCY PASSPORT COLLECTIONS:

  • The parent making the collection must bring their valid passport/ID document as proof of identification.

Swedish Biometric Passport Applications

Please be advised that ALL BIOMETRIC PASSPORT APPLICATIONS are to be made in person at the Embassy of Sweden in Pretoria.

Applicants are advised to schedule an appointment on the Embassy’s booking page. The Embassy is open for passport applications on Wednesdays between 9-12 or Thursdays between 14-16.

Parental Consent for Swedish Passport (child)

Please be advised that the the parental consent forms will only be valid for one month from the date of the appointment.

DOCUMENTS REQUIRED FOR THE APPOINTMENT:

  • Parent’s valid passport

Please note that the parent will be required to complete the relevant forms in person at the consulate.

Swedish Marriage License

Please note that Swedish citizens who are in South Africa on a 90 day tourist visa are unable to apply for a marriage license at the Consulate. This service is only for those with a valid residence permit for South Africa who intend to marry in South Africa.

DOCUMENTS REQUIRED FOR APPOINTMENT:

FOR THE APPLICANT:

  • Valid passport and South African residence permit
  • Full personbevis from Skatteverket (not older than 1 month)
  • Proof of residential address in South Africa (rental contract, telephone/municipal bill etc.)
  • Application fee (as per the Embassy’s website) must be paid at the appointment. This must be paid in cash at the Consulate.

FOR THE NON-SWEDISH PARTY

  • Valid photo ID with valid residence permit if not a citizen of South Africa, Botswana or Namibia
  • If the city/town of birth is not listed in the passport/ID document - an unabridged birth certificate is to be submitted
  • Proof of residential address in South Africa (rental contract, telephone/municipal bill etc)

Please note that if both parties are Swedish, each will need to apply for a separate marriage license.

Retention of Swedish Citizenship

DOCUMENTS REQUIRED FOR APPOINTMENT:

  • Original passport(s). If holding more than one citizenship, bring all passports
  • Original unabridged/full birth certificate
  • Both parents’ original passports. If parents hold more than one citizenship, bring all passports
  • Both parents’ original birth certificates
  • Parents’ marriage certificate
  • Proof of Swedish parent’s citizenship

Please note that there will be a R250 courier fee. This must be paid in cash at the Consulate.

Declaration of Swedish Citizenship Submission

In advance of making an appointment to submit a ‘Declaration of Swedish Citizenship’ please email sweden@cnsct.co.za with further information regarding your case, including scans of any relevant documents where possible.

DOCUMENTS REQUIRED FOR APPOINTMENT:

  • Valid Passport/photo ID
  • Additional documentation to be discussed in advance of making an appointment.

You will need to make a payment of R250 for the courier fee to send the application to the embassy in Pretoria.

Payment can be made by card or cash at the consulate at the time of the appointment.

Swedish Drivers License Collections

REQUIRED FOR THE COLLECTION:

  • Valid photo ID
  • Old drivers license (if available)

Please be advised that the license holder must make the collection in person.

Swedish Drivers License Applications

Please note that the Consulate’s role in drivers license renewals is only to hand out application forms on request.

Applicants are required to submit completed forms to Transportstyrelsen themselves.

Swedish Certifications/Notarial Acts

Paternity Investigation - Sweden

Please be advised that the Consulate will contact applicants to request an interview prior to making a booking.

DOCUMENTS REQUIRED FOR THE APPOINTMENT:

  • Valid photo ID (passport, drivers licence, ID book, asylum seeker permit)

If using a interpreter, please ensure that they bring valid photo ID with them to the appointment.

Collection / Submission of Postal Voting Materials (Brevröst Materialer)

Please bring valid official photo ID along with your ‘röstkort’ with you when collecting postal voting materials.

The completed voting envelope must be submitted to the Consulate before Thursday the 1st of September. 

This will allow us to add these votes to the final shipment. The postal vote may be sent from abroad no earlier than 28 July 2022.
